My name is Nancy Jo Ward. I’m a digital artist and designer with  years of experience and an eye for detail.

Art

artwork 2021 View projects Recent Artwork Recently, I have been more prolific than ever. Learning new tools and processes were my solution to the anxiety caused by pandemic. Distraction pushed me into an amazingly productive mode. I continue to develop experimental approaches and am learning new animation and video processes. Much of this work has been displayed in juried shows in the US and in Italy. Animated digital paintings became NFTs that were minted on OpenSeas.
artwork 2021 View projects 2020 Artwork Artwork from 2021 includes experimental approaches using my iPhone. These studies are then moved into the studio  and further developed with digital tools and AI software. These are printed on a variety of substrates and many are hand-finished with traditional media and metallic foils.

2016-2018 artwork View projects 2016-2018 This artwork was developed during my MFA and art residencies attended in 2018. This work explores digital drawing, the art of remix, data visualization, glitch art  and algorithems. Developed with digital tools, different versions are printed on different substrates and most are hand-finished with traditional media and metallic foils.
previous artwork View projects Previous Work This group represents  everything created prior to 2016. Included are early efforts at using digital tools and hybrid approaches as well as art created with traditional media.

Design

View projects Branding Logo design  is a very focused and rewarding creative effort. I have worked with corporations and small businesses, creative agencies, mom and pop's and educational institutions to develop and build brands that work in a variety of contexts.
View project Packaging & Print Design Designing for print and  packaging is a skill that combines artistry and experience in print production. The clients I have worked with know that I am knowledgable, dependable and will work hard for the success of their project, both on the screen and in peoples hands.
View project Apparel Graphics From t-shirts  and cycling kits to swimsuits, I have years of experience designing for apparel manufacturing.  Concept, budget and printing technology have big impacts in the projects I have designed for businesses, institutions and sports teams.

About me

My name is Nancy Jo Ward. I’m a media artist & designer based in Santa Maria, California. I have been teaching design and working with digital tools for a long time. I specialize in creative ideas & and a thoughtful approach. Basically, I like to make cool stuff.

Personal narrative, experience & innovative processes are the main approaches to my work. As a fulltime professor, I  understand the core value of good design. Good design = good art.
